Concerto and Aria Competition

Each fall, the Susquehanna University Department of Music hosts the annual Concerto and Aria competition. Winners then have the opportunity to perform their concerto or concert aria with the Susquehanna University Symphony Orchestra in concert. Recent winners have included Kirby Leitz (2019-saxophone), Benjamin Nylander (2018-piano), and Hayden Stacki (2017-marimba).

Orchestral Performance Opportunities

SUSO students are frequently called upon to perform with local orchestras, including the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Williamsport Symphony Orchestra, Susquehanna Valley Chorale, as well as a range of churches and other organizations that perform with orchestra. Many students also freelance in other performances, such as local high school musicals.

Interested students audition for membership in SUSO and for musical leadership roles as concertmaster and section principals.
